At Kalahari Safaris we offer the opportunity to hunt a vast number of different African plains game animals, from the tiny Steenbok to one of the largest African Antelope the Livingston Eland.
Every hunter’s number one trophy is a Greater Kudu, this spiral horn antelope is truly a magnificent big game animal, and the one we hold at the highest position when hunting, there is no better place anywhere in the world to hunt this majestic creature than in Botswana, at Kalahari Safaris we have secured multiple tags to ensure our hunters will be well served. It is not uncommon to see multiple Trophy Kudu per day while hunting, every year 60+ inch Kudu are taken in our areas.
While on your African hunting adventure with Kalahari Safaris you will have the opportunity to collect some exceptional Trophies, our main hunting property has never been commercially sport hunted, the genetic diversity of our wildlife is nothing but pure, with many trophies being record book entries and contenders.
Our landscape is made up vast open grasslands, savannahs and bushveld just a perfect combination for our African antelope to thrive such as the Greater Kudu, Impala, Zebra, Gemsbuck, Kalahari Springbuck, Waterbuck, Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest, Giraffe, Steinbok, Bush Duiker, Livingston Eland , Warthog and Ostrich.
Hunting will be tailored to clients’ needs and could be a combination of: walk and stalk to driving with spot and stalk to glassing from ground or high tower blinds. Our vast open large properties give us multiple ways to get you in close for trophy assessment and clean kill shots
Kalahari Safaris does offer bow hunting and we want you to be successful, these hunts work best from well-built blinds that we have located in game rich areas to ensure your success, please make sure that you have all needed items for your bow, because if you have a break down and need a repair such as a bowstring this would be very difficult to repair in the bush.
When hunting our African plains game, generally your deer type hunting rifles are fine, ideally bring 2 rifles like a (243 and a 7mm) these 2 calibers will cover all the different plains game available, also when using these traditional calibers, ammunition can be locally sourced if needed, it is also wise to have 2 rifles on your African Safari as if you have any problems such as a bad scope or something worst, you have a backup rifle ready to use. As far as bullets go, I have personally used Nosler Partitions for many years and they are my go-to bullet hands down. The most important thing is to only use premium type ammunition and bullets, as African game can take a lot. You are allowed 100 rounds of ammunition per rifle it is advisable to bring the max with you.
As far as Optics go for your rifle your typical 3 to 9 power variable scopes are perfect, for those that like long-range shooting we can accommodate you as we have endless vast open ranges, if you’re a long-range shooter come prepared.
Regarding binoculars we suggest you have a good pair as you will be using them all the time, and you will appreciate your Botswana Photographic Safari or African Hunting Safari so much more when you see the difference looking in low light and at long distances, my go to binoculars are Swarovski 10×40 EL with range finder.
Shotguns are allowed and we suggest to stick with using a 12 gauge, we do have multiple different bird species available like Guineafowl, Sand Grouse, Doves, Ducks and Geese to name a few, if you’re a bird hunter let Kalahari Safaris plan a successful African Bird Hunting Safari for you! Please lets us know ahead of time so we can organize some extra bird shooting during your trip 100 rounds max are allowed.
